Mothers’ Day: Atmosphere 360 + Observation Deck + Blue Coral Aquarium

May 12, 2014

Hi guys, I’m finally back here to update on my life. Been so freaking busy lately I REALLY DON’T HAVE TIME TO BLOG (although I want to, badly)

So anyway, I attended the annual Dental Night dinner held by my UM dental faculty last week and won myself a buffet lunch @KL Tower during the lucky draw. Ya ikr! Such blessing! Haha I’ll elaborate more about that  in another blogpost. The sad thing is that it is only for 1 adult. Meaning I have to go alone? NO WAYYYYYY

My mum was in KL this week. She’s staying with my aunt for a few days cuz my dad went overseas and my mum was too afraid to stay alone back home. So I thought, why not bring mummy for an early Mothers’ Day celebration? But first, let me buy one more Groupon for myself lol
I asked my mum out for a date and she was like har?! Aiyo why didn’t you tell me earlier? I didn’t pack any nice clothes and nice shoes leh… lololol

So last Wednesday, I skipped my afternoon class to spend time with my mum.

The receptionist gave us our pass and we were ushered to the restaurant on level TH02. The restaurant is called Atmosphere 360 cuz it is a revolving restaurant. It is situated 282m above ground level and furnished in a spaceship-like atmosphere. I remembered reading about this restaurant in my Bahasa Malaysia textbook during primary school haha

I got kinda indecisive on which side to go cuz the sitting area is revolving but the place where the food are placed is static lol. The whole restaurant is a big circle btw.

Its magnificent view and starry ceiling lights offer a truly unforgettable and luxurious culinary experience. Such a pity we went during the day. We’ll then definitely get to see a better view with city lights all over the place.

The waiters were friendly and kind enough to help take pictures of us. I guess they get this kind of request from customers a lot.

After our meal, we went to the observation deck. There are binoculars situated at the windows for us to view the different parts of this metropolitan city. The names of each region are written above them so that we know which place we are viewing.

 Blue Coral Aquarium was next!

fish looks so stupid from the front view haha

My mum is not like any other typical mothers. She is the breadwinner of our family. When I was eight, my dad quitted his job cuz his company was not performing well and ventured into starting a business. Since then my family’s income wasn't consistent so my mum came in and offered to work as a home tutor to support our family. My dad, no matter how hard he tried, still can’t seem to earn that much of cash as before. And most(actually, all) of his business were unsuccessful. In the end, he became a house-husband. (Haha if he knew I labelled him as ‘house-husband’ on social media he would surely kill me)

So basically my mum took up the role of my dad and vice versa. That’s why I’m really proud of my mum. She is gentle and feminine yet has to hold great responsibility on her shoulders. Okay, to make up for my poor dad, he’s actually a pretty good cook! He goes to the market and buys groceries and stuff (okay maybe I should stop now haha)

My mum is stingy when it comes to her clothes and luxuries so that I can learn how to play the piano. My mum will always save up my favourite dishes on the dinner table for me. And whenever my dad wants to gobble them up, my mum would tell him off. She always makes a point for the three of us to have lunch and dinner together at the dinner table no matter what. My mum checks on my homework when I was young and gave me ‘听写’ whenever I’m having spelling test the next day. She is not Chinese educated but makes every effort to pick up Mandrin so that she can guide me with my homework.

My mum rarely goes to fancy restaurants, spas, malls etc. She just stays at home back in Malacca and gives tuition. In the morning, she does the housework and gardening, then teaches little kids in the evening. By night time, she will be exhausted and lies on her reclining chair resting until she doses off to sleep. Dad will then yell from the kitchen Mama! Violette! Come and eat dinner! And I’ll wake mum up to have dinner together as a family. Ah I miss those times… :/

My mum always tells me “This is a mother’s love”, then hugs me tightly. Her warm, loving hugs make me know I'm safe whenever she’s around and that no one can get to me without getting through her first. Yup. You can say I'm spoiled with all the love my mum showered upon me. I'm spoiled(in a good way). My mum brought me up well. No doubt I have been through adolescence and made wrong choices at times, but eventually I came back to the right track. Thank God adolescence is over *phew*

This happened yesterday morning:

“M” is for the million things she gave me,
“O” means only that she’s growing old,
“T” is for the tears she shed to save me,
“H” is for her heart of purest gold;
“E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
“R” means right, and right she’ll always be,
Put them all together, they spell “MOTHER,”
A word that means the world to me.

Thank you mummy.
