The Baboon House @Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock

August 28, 2014

Ranked #1 on Trip Advisor among restaurants in Melaka, THE BABOON HOUSE is a quaint art cafe with impressive arty wall decors and a laid back serene atmosphere.

The cafe is housed in an old Chinatown terrace house, and that is what makes it unique. It is located at old Heeren Street (or better known as 'Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock' now), next to Courtyard @ Heeren Boutique Hotel.

Here's the front entrance. But we went in by the back door #hipsterstyle

The interior of the cafe gives a tranquil and relaxing ambience with nice murals and lots of greeneries. There is a secluded garden courtyard at the back of the cafe too. But too bad that section was closed so we were moved to another table.

Since it's an art cafe, The Baboon House is very strict with photography. No photos were allowed to be taken inside the house hence the very few photos here in this post. So sorry for not obeying the rules but I just cannot leave without taking a few shots as I need to feed my blog too haha. I guess it's alright as long I don't take photos of the artwork.

Spot the hanging animal skull on the wall and the alligator-like wood below it.

The Baboon House is not air-conditioned but is surprisingly cooling inside. A good place to rest and chill, especially after walking around Jonker Street under the scorching sun of Melaka. It's like an oasis in the middle of a dessert hahaha

 Aloha Pork Burger // RM19.90

Look at the amount of bacon omgggg I can die happy

The burger is soooo good it wins 'the best burger in Melaka' hands down yo! Besides being famous for its cosy and relaxing atmosphere, The Baboon House is also famous for its burgersssss. If you happen to visit, just get their burger. Any burger. And your life will be complete hahaha

This eatery is first made popular among tourists, only after that the locals began flocking to visit the place. While we were there, half of the tables were occupied with tourists and the other half, by us locals. It might not be a correct assumption as I supposed all angmos to be tourists and Asians to be locals so.... quit stereotyping Violette! lololol

Had a great time there. Will definitely come back for their burgers again hahaha perks of being a Malaccan
