Johnny Rockets @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

August 7, 2014

Time for another foodie post ! :D This time we went to Johnny Rockets @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.

"Johnny Rockets is an American restaurant franchise whose concept is to create a classic American restaurant atmosphere. The theme is the diner-style restaurant that had become a common sight by the 1950s."

I was immediately enthralled by the restaurant setting. It felt like time-travel, as if we travelled back in time to the classic Americana days... (says a girl who hasn't even been to America hahaha) The fun and cheeky atmosphere was certainly welcoming.

Bar stools with red and white stripped backrest.

There was a huge jukebox as well(which made me really fascinated). But too bad I didn't manage to capture a picture of it :( It was playing catchy retro songs which got me pretty turned up! Haha I just loveee the oldies.

As you can see from the picture above, Johnny Rockets serves a variety of burgers, fries and shakes. They also serve other foods such as onion rings, hot dogs, sandwiches etc etc etc.

And while we were waiting for our food to arrive, this happened:

The staff are known to sing and dance every half-hour. They were just dancing in front of our table and it was pretty entertaining haha! Although their dance moves weren't that perfect but hey, at least they were happily(I think) dancing for the customers. I assumed that they enjoy dancing from their facial expressions lol.

Do take note of their cute uniforms!

The dance lasted around 7mins or so. I wanted to clap when they finished their performance and got my both hands ready, but nobody clapped.... .... so I didn't too :( Argh I regretted! I felt that we should at least clap for them to make them feel worthwhile.

We were just joking about how the selection of waiters and waitresses of JR is done when our food were served. I ordered the "Smoke House Single" set and "Oreo Cookies and Cream" deluxe shake.

Topped with beef, sharp cheddar cheese, beef bacon,
JR's crispy onion rings & 'Smoke House' barbeque-ranch sauce.
Making a smiley face with ketchup on the plate is a Johnny Rockets trademark.

The set came with French fries and salad too.

To be honest, the burger was a major let-down. It looked tasty from the menus but when I took a bite, the patty was quite juicy but yet yucky at the same time. It had this weird taste that I didn't quite like. And the bun was really... dry? I don't really know how to describe it. I didn't even want to finish the burger. I would advise all of you not to order it if you happen to visit JR, but if you would like to try it out then go ahead. Maybe you might like it(?)

But this! THIZ WAZ AWEZOME AHHHHHHHHH !!!!! I'm not sure whether my opinion is biased or not(cuz I love Oreo's) but this was worth every cent! :D It was so nice so creamy so smooth I just cannot!

We were given a metal cup with extra milkshake. Probably leftovers from preparation(I think), since the Coca Cola cup cannot contain that much of milkshake. I was so happyyyyyyy

My verdict: Visit this place if you are eager to experience the American style of dining in the late 1950s. The milkshakes are a must-try! Burgers on the other hand..... just give them a pass.
