myBurgerLab @OUG

January 24, 2015

I've heard about the famous myBurgerLab since 3 years ago when all the hype was going on so massively that all I see when I scroll through my Facebook news feed are pictures of their exclusive ‘black’ burgers. I guess that all the hype is mainly due to their unique fluffy charcoal buns, which is black in colour, of course. #abunchofjakunsweare

Nevertheless, myBurgerLab had successfully brought a new standard to gourmet burgers in KL. Their unique burger recipes and concept is definitely worth the fame they receive. Besides that, many people praise them for their excellent and friendly service too.

After three freaking years of yearning to try out their burgers, I finally had the chance two months ago! My virgin experience with myBurgerLab :’) #historicalmoment #mustrecordthisinblog #ikenot

We went to myBurgerLab’s second outlet in OUG. The shop is located in a small row of shoplots. The location is rather inconspicuous, but with plenty of parking space.

We saw this latest promo board outside the shop - mini burgers!

Once you step into the shop, you can immediately see their interesting menu display on an old school blackboard on the wall on the right. Well, I don’t mind studying this periodic table!

They offer beef, chicken and vegetarian burgers. All are halal for sure. Just choose which burger you crave, either ala-carte or with a set of rosemary-seasoned fries and bottomless soda.

The decoration is simple with lamps and alternating black and white walls. Table and chairs are kept to the basics. Very neat and tidy as you can see here from the picture.

There is a LCD counter so that you know when your burger is ready for collection. No, I’m not going to tell you that we came early to wait for the shop to open. NO

While waiting for your burger to be ready fresh out of the lab, head over to the back of the shop to the self-service drinks counter. (I forgot to mention that you will be given an empty paper cup upon ordering) Simply fill your cup with ice, choose your choice of drink and shoot(into the cup of course)!

Spot the hidden burger.

Failed? Try again.
If you still don’t spot it, kindly visit the optometrist. #jkjk

Good news! If it’s your birthday, you can enjoy a free heart attack.
(The burger. Not literally.)

Finally the burgers are out to see the world!!!

Hangover || RM16.50 (+RM6 for set)
Beef, Crispy Hashbrown, Maple Syrup, Mushrooms

The beef patty was nothing out of the ordinary but it was juicy enough. The maple syrup gave an after-taste which was sweet and delightful. The crispiness of the hashbrown gave a crunchy texture to every bite, and not forgetting the savoury mushrooms too!

Chicken A+ || RM15.50 (+RM6 for set)
Grilled Chicken, Sharp Cheddar, Caramelized Onions, Shiitake & Enoki Mushrooms

The fluffiness of the bun paired with the sweetness of the caramelised onion led to a chicken burger which was rich in flavour. The patty was rather thick, but it’s a good thing! I enjoyed the chewable texture provided by the shiitake & enoki mushrooms and the cheddar contributed a bit of savoury flavour to the burger too. The tomato slice was juicy, ripe, and flavourful.

The rosemary fries were properly seasoned and they made a great combination with myBurgerLab’s “magical” sauce(as what my friend calls it XD)

The burger is so huge I couldn't possibly bite the whole chunk from top to bottom. It was a messy affair. Thank goodness the burger is placed in a paper pocket holder for easy handling; else the affair would be even messier XD Although the paper pocket helped to keep everything in placed, careless me still had a few things dripping out here and there.

The price of RM15.50 for an A+ chicken burger and RM16.50 for a Hangover had been a fine value. A little bit overpriced, but definitely not overrated.

Thanks to Worthy Book vouchers, I was able to enjoy 50% off my burger set! There are just too many good vouchers inside this book. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS BOOK, IT’S ONLY RM29.90 :O
